We leave Brussels in the direction of the German Military Cemetery of Vladslo, where Käthe Kollwitz Sculptures of the “Grieving Parents” is very moving. Then to the small city of Diksmuide where we visit the “Trench of Death” . We see the very impressive “Gate of Peace” and the Ijzertower. Passing along the Peace Mill, Houthulst and the Canadian Monument in St. Julien we arrive in Paschendaele/Langemark, where during terrible battles uncountable numbers of man have been killed. Time for bread meal in the old cheese factory . Then we visit the famous Commonwealth cemetery of TYNE COT, where some 35.000 man lay at rest. We arrive at ESSEX FARM- former field hospital. Here John Mc Crae wrote his famous poem “In Flanders Fields”. We are now close to Ypres, where we visit the UNESCO-listed museum of “in Flanders Fields” that is situated in the worldfamous Cloth Hall. Our last visit is Hill 60, so famous for the “tunneling” war and the Caterpillar Crater. A short drive brings us back to Ypres, where you have free time for dinner . At 8 pm sharp we attend the moving LAST POST CEREMONY at the Menin gate. After the end, we immediately drive back to Brussels, where we arrive at around 10.00 pm. The bread meal lunch in Passendaele and the entrance to the “Flanders Fields museum” in Ypres are INCLUDED.
